Inside, it has a formal opulence, set off by a high ceiling supported by Moorish columns around which long muslin curtains swirl, and a typically Moroccan grouping of damask-covered couches and inlay-work tables. The bedroom is a triumph, a bedchamber fit for a favourite, where the ethereal tracery of the plasterwork in the dome looks down on a bed draped in creamy billows of fine linen.
