| Hlazas is built on the site of a Venetian house belonging to one of the original inhabitants of Old Skala, an olive grower. Indeed, a seven hundred year-old olive tree still stands in the villa’s pleasant garden, along with the partially excavated remains of the old Notary, providing dramatic links between past and present. The two-storey villa has dignified proportions and the building materials used are those traditional staples of wood, marble and stone, but the rooms are furnished and equipped in a totally contemporary way. The pretty pool is surrounded by paved terraces that are well supplied with shade for those who like to curl up with a book, or enjoy lazy outdoor meals, while allowing sun lovers to bask like lizards wherever they wish. |
