| This is the place to stay for the true feel of a Greek island holiday – close to the waterfront and all its many activities, yet tucked away behind the much older house where the owner lives very unobtrusively. The use of traditional materials gives the recently-built Harbour House a mature and established feel, as if the exposed stone walls and richly coloured wooden beams had been here for ever. The interior living area is open-plan, with comfortable corner seating and a modern kitchen area. French windows open on to a covered outdoor dining area and an attractive walled courtyard with appealing views of the harbour and the boats at anchor. The slightly elevated position of the house even permits a view of magical Ithaka. A few steps lead to the bedrooms and a further short flight of stairs leads to a handsome wooden mezzanine gallery that houses a second informal sitting area and further sleeping accommodation – open, and therefore only suitable for older children and available at an extra charge. The Harbour House is ideally situated for anyone who enjoys the classic Greek island experience. There are swimming platforms at various points along the waterfront, the nearest being within easy walking distance. |
