| The views are quite superb, across dark green forests where it is not unusual to see eagles and other birds of prey out on patrol. A gentle flight of steps leads up from the pool terrace to the main floor of Anestis House, wrapped around by a broad balcony with a shaded pergola for outdoor meals. The living area is open-plan, spanned by a pitched wooden ceiling, and provides a spacious area for sitting, dining and preparing meals. French windows lead to the terrace with its tremendous views. There are two twin bedrooms on this floor and a bathroom, while the master bedroom is on a separate floor with its own terrace and fantastic views. This northern region of Kefalonia is a haven of peace and rugged natural beauty. Where the forest ends, the shimmering Ionian Sea begins, and the eye is led to a view of the neighbouring island of Lefkada and a tantalising glimpse of Ithaka. Fiskardo, with its cosmopolitan summer life, is only 3km away. It is just a gentle stroll to the tavernas in the village of Antipata, and a well-trodden path leads down to lovely Dafnoudi Beach in 15 minutes or so. |
