| The villa is situated on the lovely cypress-clad headland that divides the two bays of Kalami and Kouloura. In high season, the nearby resort of Kalami is busy and popular, but its broad, sheltered bay continues to attract the elegant yachts of those for whom Corfu’s north east coast is unrivalled in its beauty. Unassuming but comfortable, Periyali has a broad terrace, partly shaded by a pergola and with ample room for relaxing and eating out, that is virtually an outdoor living room. Few houses are so close to the sea – a short path, rough and steep in parts with some stone steps, leads down to a small beach just below the villa, where the colours of the water are an artist’s palette of blues and greens. Large flat rocks provide space to stretch out and sunbathe at the water’s edge. Kalami is ten minutes’ walk away, while the exquisite bay of Kouloura, one of Corfu’s ‘trademark’ views, is also ten minutes walk away on the other side of the headland. Note: New for 2008 the owners have developed and refurbished their sister house Avra (on this website). |
