PROPERTY INFORMATION

Most of the old stone houses on the tree-clad slopes above Kassiopi were formerly the dwelling places of shepherds and olive-workers. Their new owners have carefully retained many of the old original features when modernising their properties. Helidoni, too, has its share of tradition, with an original oven occupying a corner of the master bedroom, while outside, the top of the water cistern, paved, walled and decorated with potted plants, forms a most attractive outdoor dining and barbecue area. The open-plan living room with its fireplace and old beams and a cool but sunny colour scheme of blue, white and yellow, is especially attractive, and opens on to a pretty balcony from which to admire the sweeping views. A well-equipped kitchen is separated from the living room by a wooden topped counter. A wooden staircase leads down to two twin bedrooms and a shower room. The swimming pool is a great attraction, both for guests and the local birds and butterflies, and more of Corfu’s fascinating flora and fauna can be seen and heard on one of the many walks that are possible in this quiet area. Secluded as it may seem, Helidoni is no more than an easy drive away from the coast with its splendid beaches, nor from the resort of Kassiopi.
