Terraces of olive trees cascade towards the coast from below Malama, and descend towards the beautiful bay of Barbati with views that embrace Corfu Town, the mainland, Paxos, and even the west coast hills. Behind the house, there is a most impressive and unusual view of the flanks and peaks of Mount Pantocrator. From the coastal road, a winding lane takes you into an almost unchanged valley where ancient olive trees, well tended, cluster side by side with fig trees, beehives and quaint little cottages. This is the setting for Malama.There are excellent walking opportunities here, especially in early and late season, and a very different Corfu awaits to be explored – a Corfu of ‘alpine’ scenery and mountain villages... Barbati, just over a kilometre away, is distinguished by its glorious long beach and spectacular scenery offering wonderful swimming, snorkelling and water sports, along with the general entertainment of a lively beach resort. The many other beautiful bays of the north east coast are just waiting, too, to be discovered by boat or car.
