The 60 islands that make up the British Virgin Islands were once the haunt of swashbuckling pirates and buccaneers, and legends of buried treasure abound.  Today, however, the BVI are a bewitching haven for sailors, beach lovers and water sports enthusiasts, as well as those seeking seclusion and relaxation amongst the most dreamlike of surroundings.

Being volcanic in origin and with only a handful being inhabited, the islands offer some of the most stunning landscapes and seascapes both above and below the water, and mile after mile of unspoilt coral sand beaches, many only accessible from the sea.  Tortola is the main island and also the largest.  It is an island of contrasting scenery with dramatic forested hillsides falling onto gleaming white sand beaches and the clearest blue water, and Road Town, the capital, offers a wealth of yacht marinas, shops and restaurants.  A ferry ride away is Virgin Gorda, Tortola's nearest neighbour, an equally beautiful island and the favourite haunt of yachtsmen.  It is also where the majority of our villas are located.

The BVI do not boast a hectic nightlife, although some of the restaurants and beach bars have been known to get fairly lively, but mainly the islands are a place of calm, somewhere to commune with nature and to experience uncrowded beaches and the friendliness of their laidback people.  However, if you tire of lotus eating, you will be spoilt for choice of water sports - you can go sailing round the islands, diving to explore the fantastic coral reefs in the undersea world, sports fishing, and even whale watching at certain times of the year.
