| Right in the heart of the Medina, yet once you pass through the grand portal you enter a quiet haven of tranquility, where abundant greenery absorbs any stray suggestion of the noise and bustle you have left behind. Built on the site of a 13th century palace, the Jardins de la Koutoubia continues the tradition of turning its back on the outside world and facing into a large and imposing courtyard where palm trees and gardens surround a very generously sized swimming pool. Guests may relax with a mint tea or fresh juice in one of the curtained alcoves and seating areas that line the edges of the courtyard. There is a restaurant serving delicious traditional dishes, or, alternatively, the Atlas rooftop restaurant has a speciality menu that may be enjoyed with the city, the mountains and the vivid sunset as a dramatic backdrop. Most of the bedrooms overlook the courtyard and pool, all are bright and airy, decorated in a sophisticated, modern Moroccan style, and have all the comforts expected of a five-star hotel. Two of the junior suites are on the rooftop and share a terrace. |
