A traditional favourite amongst artists San Carlos is a small, yet well known village and has a long-standing tradition as a meeting point on the island. People gather at the cafés and bars or at the hippy market which takes place each Saturday at the Las Dalias restaurant.
Away from the inland town the beaches nearby include:
Cala Llena: Pale sand with calm waters (190m long, 60m deep), a relaxed beach with red low cliffs offering the opportunity to try water sports.
Cala de Boix: Black volcanic sand with calm waters (160m long, 18m deep), located in a natural area of pine woods and shrub crowned hills.
Canal d'en Marti: Black volcanic sand with calm waters (100m long, 15m deep), flanks by a mount of pine trees and bushes.
