Cortijo De La Virgen

Sleeps up to 14

The massive wooden door that guards the access to the Cortijo, the shady central courtyard and the orange groves are all unmistakably Andalucian, yet the owners have succeeded in creating an attractively English country house feel.

Spacious rooms, decorated in pale but warm shades, are distributed over three levels and a separate tower house, and combine elegance and comfort. The beamed kitchen, with its terracotta-coloured walls, has a distinctly rustic feel and is a place to enjoy preparing a meal while others look on and offer advice over a glass or two of wine. Mature gardens afford any number of quiet corners and viewpoints from which to marvel at the gorgeous rural scenery, however the beautiful enclosed swimming pool, with its shaded dining table, is bound to be the focus of outdoor life.

The Cortijo is very close to Sotogrande with its many sports facilities, early risers at the villa will have the opportunity to see polo ponies being walked through the valley to the polo fields. This handsome house stands on a beautiful hillside in the Guadiaro River valley, surrounded by orange groves and avocado plantations, a lovely area for walking.

Destination introduction

Once a small village situated at the mouth of the Guadiaro river Sotogrande has evolved in to a glamourous tourist destination enjoying an excellent location, beautiful surrounds and enviable climate. Boasting excellent tourist infrastructure, a harbour home to grand yachts and sea-craft, beaches, the polo club, golf courses including Valderamma, once host of the Volvo Masters and the Ryder Cup and a choice of bars and restaurants Sotogrande has much to offer. The estuary can be explored via a series of pathways and is surely a haven for nature lovers as wildlife, in particular migratory birds congregate here before their trip across the straight to Africa for the winter.
