La Laguna

Situated within easy walking distance of the village amenities in Gaucin, La Laguna has a Riad style with superb views from the gardens over the shimmering mountains and up to the castle.

The gardens are particularly lovely, the trees, flowers and lawns bathing the house in a fragrant coolness and lending it unusual privacy. On the lower level, an elegant, shaded outdoor dining area overlooks the garden and the beautiful swimming pool while a broad terrace on the higher level, paved with honey coloured tiles, allows perfect relaxation in sun or shade. The bedrooms and sitting room, with their high beamed ceilings are large and cool and decorated in exquisite colours, featuring some very decorative pieces of local furniture, paintings, pottery and fabrics.

The whitewashed village of Gaucin is within easy walking distance, in early August the colourful and exciting Feria takes place, while peaceful at any other time of year.

Serenely beautiful and reminiscent of a Roman villa with stately pillars, with gardens that perfectly complement the house, La Laguna is the antidote to modern life.

Destination introduction

In the heart of Pueblos Blancos country Gaucin is a spectacularly beautiful mountain village commanding sweeping views to Gibraltar and the Rif mountains of North Africa. The village is situated against the backdrop of the Serranía de Ronda where, depending on the time of year, you can enjoy an Impressionist paint palette of colour. The centre of the village is a tangle of narrow, twisting streets there were once a haven for brandy and tobacco smugglers who travelled through the surrounding hills.
