Martinhal Villas

Sleeps up to 8

Located in an area of stunning natural beauty, spanning two coasts – the western and southern shores of Portugal – the newly created Martinhal Beach Resort offers visitors a choice of well-designed and contemporary accommodation. Those preferring a little more privacy, to enjoy a much awaited family holiday or a special break, will find what they are looking for in the beautiful Luxury Villas, situated along the western edge of the resort.

Each villa is set in its own landscaped garden with swimming pool and ocean views. The Conran-designed villas lack for nothing in decoration or equipment, with the emphasis on airy indoor living spaces and generous provision for outdoor living, and each villa is quite different in design from any of its neighbours.

Villa guests have the best of both worlds – comfortable privacy but also the opportunity to enjoy the superb facilities of the Resort, with its two swimming pools, spa, fitness room, restaurants, shops and sports facilities. Visiting the ‘village square’ is a welcome chance to meet other guests, and there is the useful option of registering the kids for a small fee at the Children’s Club. Glorious, unspoilt beaches of the kind only to be found in the Algarve, as well as the chance to explore the adjacent nature Preserve, are just two of the intriguing alternatives to chilling out by your own pool.

Destination introduction

Sagres is a small and very historic fishing port on the southernmost tip of Portugal’s Algarve region, where Europe confronts the mighty Atlantic Ocean. It was from here that Portuguese ships set sail in the Middle Ages on the first voyages of Atlantic navigation, during which the discovery and exploration of the African coast took place.

Cape St Vincent has always been a sacred spot and the area around Sagres is dotted with standing stones, or menhirs. The wonderful coastline contrasts vast sandy beaches and smaller  coves with huge caverns and hollows sculpted from the cliffs by the restless ocean.

The Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentinais surrounds the Martinhal resort and is renowned as an area of natural beauty, home to over 100 rare and endemic plants species and a vast array of birdlife. The region is also stepped in history and offers cultural discovery including the 10th-century Moorish castle at Aljezur and various 17th-century cliff-top defences.

Famous for its surfing, quaint fishing villages and a great base to discover the 'real' Portugal, Sagres and environs is very different to the more commercial aspects of the Algarve.
