Destination introduction
The scent of Almond blossom fills the air and verdant orchards are scattered around the vicinity of Moncarapacho. A typical "Barrocal" village, the streets are home to examples of bourgeois architecture of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Heading east along the lagoon, you will find the spectacular village of Olhao, famed for its Cubic architecture and Moorish houses. Days can be spent in the beautiful sandy islets (accessed by local ferry services) which seperate the Rio Formosa Natural Park from the Atlantic, and are a choice location to sample the regions famous sea food restaurants.
