Quinta Da Passarada

A traditional single-storey Portuguese farmhouse, Quinta da Passarada has been skilfully converted to offer comfortable living space.

The villa is set within 2,500 square metres of gardens and orchards, surrounded by lawns and terraces shaded, in part, by huge palm trees. Extensively restored and now equipped with some very modern facilities, the Quinta retains much of its old character, giving it a certain charm. The house has satellite TV, MP3 compatible stereo and indoor games, albeit the lovely swimming pool will inevitably be the centre of attraction, with a beautiful built-in barbecue. Sleeping arrangements are flexible, with accommodation divided between the main house and the simpler separate, self-contained guest cottage. A large outdoor covered porch with dining area and comfortable seating providing the ideal setting for al fresco dining, and there is a lovely gazebo.

The property lies on the edge of the Ria Formosa Park, and is close to the town of Almancil, with beaches a short drive away, and prestigious resorts such as Vale de Lobo and Quinta do Lago, with golf and sports facilities, also nearby. Quinta da Passarada enjoys an established beauty, and is a delightful holiday villa.

This increasingly popular option can provide the service for given meals, or for multiple meals during the course of your holiday. and can work out extremely cost effective over restaurant prices. Cooks are on request and do need to be booked well in advance to avoid disappointment. They are usually payable locally at an hourly rate.

Destination introduction

Set within the ‘golden triangle’ within the Algarve, Almancil is close to fabulous beaches, the Ria Formosa National Park, and the golf and water sport facilities this area is rightly famous for. The town boasts a choice of restaurants serving local specialties and international cuisine and is an excellent base from which to explore the region. Located just to the east, in the nearby village of São Lourenço you will find a church that is an excellent example of Algarvian architecture and covered inside with beautiful 18th century ceramic tiles. The São Lourenço Cultural Centre is in the street leading up to the church, and here you will find regular classical music events and art exhibitions.

• Weekly market on the street called 'Rua da Nossa Senhora da Piedade' every Saturday
