Dona Filipa Resort enjoys the distinction of being the proud owner of the magnificent San Lorenzo Golf Course, rated the second best golf course in Europe, second only to Vallderama.

Dona Filipa is also ideally located for all the other golf courses within Vale de Lobo and Quinta do Lago, making it the perfect golfing base. Set in 450 acres of pine woods and well-maintained grounds that come right down to the edge of the rugged cliffs that alternate with sandy bays, the hotel extends a friendly welcome to families as well as golf enthusiasts.

A selection of restaurants, indoor, outdoor and poolside, both informal and formal, caters magnificently for a wide range of tastes, with the emphasis on Italian food for the most part, without, however, ignoring Portuguese dishes and some splendid seafood. The breakfast buffet is a highlight – starting at six am in the morning it allows family members who may have a different idea about the pace of their holiday, to come and go independently.

The selection is huge and hearty but there is a fantastic choice of fresh fruit too. In the height of summer, when the golfers give way for the most part to Portuguese families, there are more local dishes introduced to the menu. A heated swimming pool and three all-weather tennis courts provide some variety when it comes to exercise, and of course there is the wonderful Children’s Club to take care of entertainment for the youngsters.

Room Description

Ocean Suites: Consist of a large open space with a sleeping area, furnished with a king size bed and sitting area. Bathrooms are equipped with a corner bathtub and a walk-in raindrop shower.

Atlantic Suites: Spacious suites with a leisure and a sleeping area with a king size bed and a bathroom, plus a large balcony overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Deluxe Suites: Twin bedroom with a separate lounge, two comfortable dressing rooms and two bathrooms. Some Deluxe Suite balconies may have pleasant views overlooking the hotel garden, partial Ocean views or view to the magnificent 17th Hole of Vale do Lobo Golf Course.

Junior Suites: Open plan, consisting of a bedroom area and relaxing sitting area. Junior Suite balconies have views to the different surroundings of the Dona Filipa Hotel & San Lorenzo Golf Resort.

Deluxe Rooms: Twin or double beds (76 Twins and 7 Deluxe Rooms) and a balcony with pleasant views overlooking striking Atlantic Ocean or the Vale do Lobo Golf Course.

Classic Rooms: Twin or double beds (43 Twins and 6 Double). The standard rooms have a balcony with pleasing views overlooking the hotel garden, the winter garden or the villas.

The main restaurant, Primavera, serves a delicious combination of Italian and Mediterranean cuisine throughout the day in a relaxed and casual setting. The Dom Duarte grill is perfect for more formal dining offering a gourmet menu of Portuguese dishes.

Spa & Wellness

The massage and beauty treatment centre at the hotel has a wide range of specialised massages, thereapies, wraps and scrubs - for both women and men.  Some treatments can be carried out in the privacy of your own room.

A full spa is available at the Vale do Lobo Spa which is about 500 metres from the hotel. Sauna, hammam, steam room and vichy shower are among the facilities available, and guests of Dona Filipa are offered special rates.

Activities

The use of the all weather tennis courts, racquets and balls is complimentary throughout the day.  Those wishing to play in the evening will be charged for the use of the floodlights. Tennis lessons are also available and charged per 45 minute session.

The San Lorenzo Golf Course is a Par 72, 18 hole course. Set on the Rua Formosa nature reserve and considered to be one of the best in Europe.  Guests at the Dona Filipa can pre-book golf packages through CV Travel.

Your Location

Situated on the algarve coast near to the Quinta da Lago, golf courses and beaches. There is a children's park and trails through the beautiful Ancão Nature Reserve which borders onto the Atlantic Ocean and is a mere 750m away from the Resort.
