Ripa Bianca

Sleeps up to: 10

Ripa Bianca, a wonderfully spacious and comfortable home, enjoys a delightful position with spectacular panoramic views. The villla is a wonderful example of a renovation using traditional materials successfully combined with a more contemporary feel.

Set on a sunny hillside in Southern Umbria, Ripa Bianca has been designed and equipped with elegant simplicity and decorated in natural restful colours that perfectly complement the beautiful antiques and paintings.

The sitting room is furnished in a comfortable, relaxed style and the adjioning dining room features a rustic, antique table and a 19th century French armoire. With an arch made of stone from a ruin on the property, the kitchen is spacious and well equipped, including a double refrigerator, fitted units and an indoor fireplace for cooking.

All five bedrooms have excellent an suite facilities. Some of the vast walk in showers have picture windows to appreciate the spectacular scenery even while showering! The master bedroom has a sitting and dressing room and every bedroom has at least one full length glass French door (with balconies upstairs) which allow cool breezes in and a beautiful view from every bed.

A loggia upstairs has views over the the entire valley. The garden is set on landcaped terraces, the top one with lawns perfect for games, the pool on a lower terrace with beautiful views, a wooden pergola shaded by bamboo and climbing wisteria.

Adjacent to the house, there is another shaded pergola for al fresco dining with a pizza oven.

The gardens are laid to lawn with lavendar, cypress and young olive trees. Perhaps one of Ripa Bianca's greatest advantages is its combination of seclusion and yet very central position for day trips to 'must see' centres such as Todi, Orvieto, Spoleto, Perugia, Assisi and Rome-all of which are within an hour of the house.

Destination introduction

Those seeking relaxation will find it in abundance amid the tranquillity of Umbria's rolling hills, covered with vines and olives, cypresses, pines, oaks and chestnut trees. It is here where a wide variety of our selected villas are discreetly hidden. For those wishing to combine relaxation with day trips to towns and villages or more active pursuits, Umbria offers a wide choice. From Etruscan through Roman, mediaeval and Renaissance times, the region contains a wealth of evidence of its varied past.

An easy drive from Rome, Pisa or Perugia, Southern Umbria's hill top towns dominate the green countryside. One of our favourite hill towns is Orvieto with its beautiful mosaic fronted cathedral, cobbled streets, good restaurants and twice-weekly market, making it a popular choice for day trips with guests staying in our nearby villas. The hill town of Todi with its attractive historical centre, stunning piazza and breathtaking views draw weekend visitors from Rome and it is a good spot for an evening stroll and ice cream.‑

For those staying near the Lazio border, a day trip to Rome is a must. Home of the Vatican, the first stop for most visitors is the wealth of artistic treasures in its museums. There is too much to take in on one day but the Roman Forum and Colosseum are an easy walk from the central shopping streets, as well as the pretty cobbled streets of the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps and Piazza Navona.

Our fabulous collection of luxury villas in Umbria offer a fascinating range of styles and group sizes, perfect for small family get-togethers as well as larger groups.
