Ceccomoro

Sleeps up to: 12

If there is such a thing as minimalist chic, it is embodied in Ceccomoro: an impressive property set in extensive lawned gardens, with heatable pool, tennis court and magnificent views of Todi and the countryside.

Set on a small private estate of 60 acres just 9 km south of Todi, Ceccomoro is the total antithesis of a cluttered farmhouse. Inside, the very spacious rooms give a feeling of coolness, light and tranquillity. The vast sunny sitting room with comfortable sofas and dining area extends the full length of the property. The huge master bedroom has a sublime view and bathroom with roll top bath. A panoramic grassy terrace with long marble table is a perfect spot for balmy candlelit evening meals. The study/library has a computer, printer, fax and WiFi.

The views are simply exceptional, an idyllic panorama of silvery olive trees, wheat fields, forests, castles and farmsteads with Todi clearly visible in the distance.

The infinity pool gives an impression of bathing within the view and guests will appreciate the wisteria-covered dining terrace for shady lunches as well as the well equipped pool house with kitchenette.

The grounds extend to approximately 4 acres and extensive lawned gardens, dotted with silvery olive groves, pine trees and climbing roses, surround the property and slope gently down to the tennis court.

Guests have written warm appreciative comments of the discreet assistance offered by Roberto who manages the estate and the excellent cook service.

With churches and medieval civic buildings, Todi is one central Italy's loveliest towns. A superb choice for friends or families.

Welcome Provisions Included

A welcome gesture to offer you a drink after your journey; tea or coffee and biscuits, wine or juice and a snack. They are not sufficient for an entire meal. Owners will also generally leave a few other items to get you going such as some salt, sugar, oil, bin bags and toilet paper.

Food Hamper

Can be arranged for an additional cost and service charge payable locally. For guests who are arriving late or who recognize they may be delayed and arrive with no time to do shopping. Shops are shut on Sundays, so the aim of the Food Hampers is to provide two light meals and two breakfasts, to allow guests to go out for one meal, then do more shopping on Monday. We can adapt these hampers to take into account allergies, dislikes and dietary requirements, or according to whether there are children in the party.

Cook Service

Clients going to Ceccomoro can avail themselves of the services of the housekeeper (or if she is unavailable a friend of hers), who enjoys cooking very good simple, local, meals  for guests.

She will shop for and prepare meals, usually in the evening, though she is prepared also to cook light lunches if required, by arrangement (warning from past experiences: since most clients prefer to have lunch on the pool terrace, which is on a different level from the main kitchen, the cook will have to have help with carrying food to clients and carrying crockery and glasses up and down; this obviously will put up the cost of "light lunches" if they are served, as the help will have to be paid for).  The cook's duties include laying the table, serving up to the second course, and clearing up in the kitchen. If there are more than 9 persons, the cook will bring a friend to help her, and clients will be asked to pay for the friend’s services as well.

The cooks do not usually like to work later than 9.30pm, nor do they usually work on Sundays or Bank Holidays (except in exceptional circumstances), though they can leave light meals for these days.

Prices and Booking

We charge a one-off booking fee payable in advance of departure directly to CV Travel London.

The cost of the cook service is €12 per hour per cook, to include time spent shopping and travelling. Bear in mind that shopping and travelling take up quite a long time. As a very rough indication, a simple two-course meal (plus ice-cream or fresh fruit) for 6 people could take 4-5 hours, whilst a more elaborate four-course meal for 12 could take eight or more hours.

If you are happy with these arrangements, we need to know if you would like the cook’s services to book her well ahead of time. The cook also offers her services to Ceccomoro's sister villa, Casa Andrea, so we cannot always guarantee that she will be free. We would therefore be grateful if you could ask for and complete the cook questionnaire and return it to us as soon as possible.

Shopping

Wee suggest you stop on the way to Ceccomoro and shop for ‘basics’ and food for breakfast for Sunday and Monday mornings. However, if you are arriving late (planes can be delayed), and bearing in mind that most shops are closed on Sundays in Italy, we suggest you order a full Food Hamper  (see the Travel Directory in the Italy brochure).

Note

Please bear in mind that the arrangements outlined above are an extra goodwill service organized by CV Travel, who cannot guarantee that the cook will always be able to prepare meals as requested. Should the cook become unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, you will be refunded CV’s booking fee

Destination introduction

Those seeking relaxation will find it in abundance amid the tranquillity of Umbria's rolling hills, covered with vines and olives, cypresses, pines, oaks and chestnut trees. It is here where a wide variety of our selected villas are discreetly hidden. For those wishing to combine relaxation with day trips to towns and villages or more active pursuits, Umbria offers a wide choice. From Etruscan through Roman, mediaeval and Renaissance times, the region contains a wealth of evidence of its varied past.

An easy drive from Rome, Pisa or Perugia, Southern Umbria's hill top towns dominate the green countryside. One of our favourite hill towns is Orvieto with its beautiful mosaic fronted cathedral, cobbled streets, good restaurants and twice-weekly market, making it a popular choice for day trips with guests staying in our nearby villas. The hill town of Todi with its attractive historical centre, stunning piazza and breathtaking views draw weekend visitors from Rome and it is a good spot for an evening stroll and ice cream.‑

For those staying near the Lazio border, a day trip to Rome is a must. Home of the Vatican, the first stop for most visitors is the wealth of artistic treasures in its museums. There is too much to take in on one day but the Roman Forum and Colosseum are an easy walk from the central shopping streets, as well as the pretty cobbled streets of the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps and Piazza Navona.

Our fabulous collection of luxury villas in Umbria offer a fascinating range of styles and group sizes, perfect for small family get-togethers as well as larger groups.
