Not far from the small town of Porto Ercole, on the spectacular Monte Argentario coast, Il Pellicano consists of a central building and six individual villas, hidden away on a hillside overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, and surrounded by a huge Mediterranean garden. The sea views are fantastic – the colour and clarity of the sea here is breathtaking.
The very spacious rooms are arranged to convey a unique sense of intimacy and privacy, so that it is easy to believe you are the only occupants of the hotel. Il Pellicano was built in the 60’s as a condominium, conceived as a tribute to the romance and passion of the owners’ own love affair. They invited friends to join them, and the villas were owned by the rich and famous from all over the world. The present owner bought the property in the 70’s and converted it into one of the most luxurious and elegant hotels in Italy. With a heated swimming pool right by the sea, a private, rocky beach reached by lift, and private boat trips, Il Pellicano allows its guests to enjoy for a while the sybaritic lifestyle of the original owners. Excellent cuisine, a vast wine cellar, gentle music most evenings – this is indeed a very special and exclusive hotel, one where you feel like a member of a very privileged house party.
The hotel does not accept children under the age of 10.
Double standard rooms are located in the main building and overlook the inner courtyard.
Double Garden rooms are either in the main building or one of the cottages and enjoy views over the lush Mediterranean gardens.
Double Sea View rooms are also in either the main building or the cottages, and are a bit larger and have either balcony or terrace, from which there are views of the sea.
