Casa Forci

The tranquil seclusion of the Forci area, in the hills of Lucca, is the setting for this stylish farmhouse with its  magnificent private swimming pool. Despite its apparent isolation in glorious countryside, the villa is only 15 minutes’ drive from Lucca. It has been featured both in The Times and in World of Interiors.

The skill and experience of the British interior decorator owner has been brought to bear on the handsome old stone house, transforming its rooms into fine examples of contemporary country style while making use, at the same time, of traditional Tuscan materials such as cotto floors and beamed ceilings. The result earned the villa a place in the pages of The World of Interiors. Much of the ground floor is taken up by a sunny and spacious sitting room with some fine pieces of modern furniture. This room opens on to a lovely dining terrace, one of two outdoor areas suitable for al fresco meals or barbecues.  Marble work surfaces feature in the well-equipped kitchen. The bedrooms are lovely – the Master double bedroom is on the ground floor and is decorated in a contemporary  style that owes much of its romantic charm to the beautiful curtained four-poster bed. Of the four further bedrooms on the first floor, two also have canopied beds.

Casa Forci is surrounded by gorgeous mature gardens with lawns, climbing roses and cypress trees. The gardens are filled with the scents of jasmine and lavender and overlook wonderful views to the Apuan Alps and down to the plain of Lucca. The swimming pool, however, is perhaps the most unusual and eye-catching feature of the villa’s gardens. It makes quite an architectural statement, with its dark lining giving it a mysterious quality. A columned pool house at one end and a row of cypress trees at the other, stone terraces and olive trees, make a magical setting for a swim at any time of day.

While some guests will find it hard to drag themselves away from the pool, others will wish to explore, and the lovely countryside is full of opportunities to visit local vineyards and olive oil presses.

There is a good selection of informal restaurants within easy driving distance. Despite its seclusion, Casa Forci is well-located for serious sightseeing, with Locca, one of Tuscany’s most fascinating towns, less than 20 minutes’ drive from the villa.

Private Pool

12 x 6 m, 1.20 m deep.  The pool is open from end of May until beginning of October. Pool opening outside these dates is subject to confirmation, on request and there may be an extra charge.

Food Hamper

Can be arranged for an additional cost and service charge payable locally. For guests who are arriving late or who recognize they may be delayed and arrive with no time to do shopping. Shops are shut on Sundays, so the aim of the Food Hampers is to provide two light meals and two breakfasts, to allow guests to go out for one meal, then do more shopping on Monday. We can adapt these hampers to take into account allergies, dislikes and dietary requirements, or according to whether there are children in the party.

Cook Service

Availability on request, payable locally. Booking fee applicable.

Linen and Towels

Provided once per week on Saturday. Extra changes are available on request for an additional charge.

Maid Service

3 hours per day, 3 days per week.

Tenancy Times

Tenancies commence at 16:00 hours on the day of arrival and villas are to be vacated at 10:00 hours on the day of departure.

Important Note

Please note that the 1.5km road, down a forest track leading to the house is not suitable for cars with low suspension or for nervous drivers.
