Villa Corti

Sleeps up to: 11

One of the most beautiful and elegant houses in Chianti, complete with a tennis court and a unique sloping pool, Villa Corti is the place to relax in comfort and give in to the excellent service from its resident staff.

Dating back to the 13th century, Villa Corti has a feeling of grandeur with its huge rooms and a superb collection of antiques and paintings, yet it maintains a very comfortable feel, full of character, which is just irresistible. Surrounded by 5 hectares of Tuscan countryside, vineyards and olive groves, Villa Corti has its own mature gardens, trees and an antique rose garden.

All the ground floor rooms open out onto the gardens and terrace which is ideal in the summer months. The billiard room will provide entertainment indoors whilst the large kitchen, sitting room and dining room provide ample room for all guests. Each tastefully decorated bedroom is unique and guests will love the master bedroom with its own dressing room, en suite facilities and balcony overlooking the countryside and rose planted parterre. From the huge dining room, french windows lead out to south facing terraces and the pool, overlooked by a dovecote.

The more energetic will appreciate the private astroturf tennis court and ‘bocce’ (petanque) ground and table tennis.

Villa Corti is the perfect base for discovering the rest of Tuscany although with a good restaurant within walking distance and an excellent cook service at the villa, guests will find it hard to leave.

Maid Service

3 hours, 6 days per week

Cook Service

The maid will cook 6 evenings per week (Monday - Saturday) and 3 hours per evening are included in your rental.

The housekeeper and cook, is happy to offer you a simple supper on arrival which will normally consist of a pasta course and a main course. This meal is kindly offered by the owner along with a couple of bottles of wine and water. Shopping for the following days can either be done by yourself on your way to the house on Saturday, or can be done ahead of time by the cook as an extra service. In any case, Sunday is the day off for the  staff and most supermarkets are closed in Italy. With the exception of Sunday, the cook will be available to cook your evening meal and lay the table every morning for breakfast and  make coffee  before starting to tidy up the bedrooms and clean bathrooms.

Please note that she does not prepare breakfast itself nor does she clear up afterwards.  Dinner is served at around 8.00pm and preparation is expected to take between 3-5 hours (the rent includes 3 hours for dinner preparation), therefore the cook will charge you accordingly for any additional time needed depending on the menu and the party size. The cook does not clear up or do the washing up unless you specifically request this extra service in which case the cook will write down the extra hours each day and payment will be due at the end of the week. If you have opted to clear up and do the washing up yourself, the cook will appreciate your cooperation and expect to find the kitchen in order the following morning so that she can start her working day.

You can decide your evening menu on a daily basis or for a couple of days at a time (this will save on shopping time).  Normally around breakfast time you can discuss what you would like or even ask the cook to prepare you a surprise.  She will then do the shopping but it is advisable to give her a float so that she is not out of pocket.  The service is available 6 days a week (Monday – Saturday).

Costs: Laying the breakfast table and the time spent preparing your evening meal up to 3 hours are included in the cost of your holiday.  The cost of the food itself and the time needed to purchase it plus petrol are NOT included. All extra hours are chargeable, including clearing and washing up.

The housekeeper is very happy to make your holiday as comfortable and enjoyable as possible and is available to work extra hours at a charge of  12 Euros per hour.  Please note that she will charge you for shopping time (to include time spent travelling to and from shops) and  plus the cost of the shopping itself (receipts will be shown).  There is also a minimal charge for every trip she makes to Greve/Panzano to cover her petrol costs.  Please ensure you complete the cook questionnaire on booking.

Destination introduction

Chianti is perhaps the best known of all Tuscany's varied panoramas. Located between Siena and Florence and known above all for its good wine, Chianti is dotted with pretty hill top towns and villages, green hills, undulating rows of vines, olive groves and swathes of pine and ancient oak. A perfect base for sightseeing, countryside pursuits and shopping trips.

Siena is high on the list of day trips for CV Travellers in Tuscany as it is brimming with beauty, culture, Renaissance art and architecture.  Highly recommended is a visit to the central piazza or 'Campo', the location of the famous Palio horse race, it's colourful cathedral, pretty shops and excellent restaurants.
