A well located and comfortable retreat in the Chianti Countryside, at the edge of the delightful small hamlet of San Sano with its gorgeous little restaurant and shop and within easy reach of Siena and Gaiole.

This comfortable property, consisting of the main house and the guest annexe, is often used by its Genoese owners as a weekend retreat. It has been featured in Gardenia, a well-known Italian magazine, and is ideal for relaxed living for couples and families.

Built into a hillside, Casa Daniela is a complete surprise with first impressions of 40 acres of green lawns, shaded areas, trees and shrubs surrounding a charming house of seemingly modest proportions, yet all combining to make a spacious and most sought after holiday home. The extensive, mature gardens are complemented by shaded terraces along the side of the house and underneath the old cedar tree. The guest annexe is separated by a terraced area with a most attractive entrance and dozens of terracotta pots, of different shapes and sizes, full of beautiful and colourful plants.

The country kitchen in the main house will appeal to all those who love cooking; baskets and copper pans hang from its beams. A charming loggia leads from the kitchen, with a pergola covered in vines for shaded al fresco dining and huge terracotta pots containing three different varieties of white, pink and mauve hydrangeas. More of a country cottage than a luxury villa, the house is particularly suitable for cosy living, with its very comfortable sitting area and "snug", where one sinks into comfortable cushions, Moroccan-style, next to a banquette area with a circular table in the middle - ideal for card games or just for talking into the early hours.

Casa Daniela’s lovely gardens and expanses of lawn, makes it an ideal family house. Guests will enjoy the pretty and peaceful views from various points in the garden and from the house. The large swimming pool, located well away from the house, has an electric cover, making it particularly suitable for children and there is also a table tennis table!

One of its greater advantages must be its seclusion and privacy - yet, only 10 minutes walk away, is an excellent family run restaurant and local shop, run by the same family, open 6 days a week from early until very late.The owners know the owners of Casa Daniela well and extend the same hospitality in welcoming their guests by way of a complimentary arrival night meal. All the food is fresh, having been bought for the restaurant, and excellent provisions to include ham, cheese, salami, fruit and vegetables are always available.

A highly recommended and most lived in house, very suited to guests who will enjoy and appreciate this much loved family home.

Private Pool

14m x 8m, 1.35m - 2.35m deep with ladder steps. The pool is open from mid May until mid September. Outside these dates, the pool can be opened on request for an extra charge

Welcome Provisions included

A welcome gesture to offer you a drink after your journey; tea or coffee and biscuits, wine or juice and a snack. They are not sufficient for an entire meal. Owners will also generally leave a few other items such as some salt, sugar, oil, bin bags and toilet paper.

Food Hamper

Can be arranged for an additional cost and service charge payable locally. For guests who are arriving late or who recognize they may be delayed and arrive with no time to do shopping. Shops are shut on Sundays, so the aim of the Food Hampers is to provide two light meals and two breakfasts, to allow guests to go out for one meal, then do more shopping on Monday. We can adapt these hampers to take into account allergies, dislikes and dietary requirements, or according to whether there are children in the party.

Cook Service

On your arrival you will find a simple complimentary meal which is offered by the owner of Casa Daniela.  This will be delivered by the local restaurant from San Sano in the early evening.  For the remainder of your stay it is usually possible to arrange for this service from the same restaurant for other evenings. Please ask for details.

Linen and Towels

Provided once per week on Saturday. Extra changes are available on request for an additional charge

Tenancies commence at 16:00 hours on the day of arrival and villas are to be vacated at 10:00 hours on the day of departure
