Casa Cefalu

Sleeps: 4 + 2

This pretty town house is set in the medieval centre of Cefalù, on the north coast of Sicily. The accommodation is on four levels, with two entrances. From the ground floor entrance, guests are just a few minutes away from the cathedral. The other entrance is on the second floor, leading into the sitting and dining area with a view of La Rocca, the impressive fortress.

The accommodation develops over four floors and rooms are decorated in inviting colours with beamed ceiling and interesting pieces of furniture, artwork and typical Sicilian tiles. From one of the house’s two terraces, there are magnificent views over the roofs of the medieval town, the twelfth-century Norman cathedral and out to sea. One of the terraces also offers an al fresco cooking and barbecue area.

Shops, restaurants and trattorie are within 200 metres. This is an ideal spot to enjoy the warm and friendly pace of a southern European town -  wander through the streets and squares with their palazzi, churches, enjoy the old fashioned bars, and a sandy beach is within just 300 metres of the property. An excellent option for one  or two couples and also accessible for those without a car.

Destination introduction

One of the most dramatic coastlines on the Sicilian coast lies between Catania and Taormina, where the imposing volcano of Mount Etna towers over the little villages and beaches below. The coastline ascends to the magnificent peak of Mount Tauro where the exclusive and beautiful little town of Taormina is perched, with its Greek amphitheatre, attractive palazzi, shops and restaurants.

Further down the east coast is the attractive baroque town of Siracusa and beautiful sandy beaches. Round the south eastern side of the island is Modica, a unique and charming baroque town with pretty narrow streets in the historical centre.

Marsala is located on Sicily's western coast about 30 kilometers south of Trapani. The region is known for its beautiful cuisine, the blue sea and its fine grapes which make the fortified Marsala wine. Marsala's fish market is popular and beaches are within easy reach while nature reserves such as 'Lo Zingaro', between Palermo and Marsala, attract those looking to combine pleasant coastal walks and sea swimming.
