La Meridiana

Sleeps up to: 6 or 8 or 10

Named after the magnificent sun dial in the property, La Meridiana is a beautiful contemporary property set on a private estate in the Sabine Hills, complete with beautifully designed gardens and hard tennis court. La Medidiana is just 50 km from Rome. Featured in the Sunday Telegraph in 2008 and House & Garden February 2009.

Designed by the owners and decorated by John Stefanidis, La Meridiana is a beautiful example of uncluttered contemporary design, with the owners's own sun dial as the centre piece of the house. The house is beautifully proportioned with comfort a priority. Each of the spacious bedrooms in the main house is furnished with interesting objects, prints, paintings and beautiful fabrics with views out over the rolling countryside and excellent en-suite facilities.

The lawned gardens with private spring and the dramatic pool area with its covered sitting out and dining area also have views over olive groves to the Sabine Hills. If you can tear yourself away from the pool, tennis court and views, La Meridiana is a perfect place from which to explore nearby treasures: local castles and villages, the Villa d'Este and Villa Adriana at Tivoli, the gardens at Ninfa, the monastery at Farfa and of course Rome itself, La Meridiana is just an hour away by car.

Guest Book

Included by The Sunday Times (07 March 2010) as one of the best villas in Europe:  -

"Here's proof, were any needed that you get more for your money if you're prepared to venture beyond Tuscany. This irrestible, state-of-the-art villa in the Sabine Hills, with a guest annexe and pool house, is about half as expensive as equivalent properties further north. The interiors have starred in magazine shoots, and Rome is within easy day-tripping distance. Ciampino airport is a 90-munute drive."

Destination introduction

Northern and Southern Italy meet in Italy's beautiful capital city of Rome. Home of the Vatican, the first stop for most visitors is the wealth of artistic treasures in its museums. There is too much to take in on one day but the Roman Forum and Colosseum are an easy walk from the central shopping streets, as well as the pretty cobbled streets of the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps and Piazza Navona.

North of Rome is the spa town of Viterbo also known for the beauty of the surrounding hills, fine wine and Etruscan history not far from the villa La Scorticata. Further north and nearer the Umbrian border is the area around Rieti which is the central point of the Italian peninsular and a good base for the Apenines and the Sabine hills, where the elegant Palazzo Parisi and La Meridiana are located.

The stunning national park of Circeo lies on the southern coast of Lazio, and has a mixture of sandy and rocky beaches.‑ The mountainous inland area provides a dramatic backdrop for the appealing sandy beaches of Sabaudia and Terracina, while the national park of Circeo is a haven for nature lovers; the lakes and marshlands are full of wildlife such as storks, buzzards and herons as well as eucalyptus groves and wild flowers. It is here where the beautiful Villa Delfino is to be found.

Ponza is a jewel of an island only 8 kms long and just a short boat trip from the mainland, midway between Rome and Naples. Part of the archipelago of the Ponziane Islands (Ponza, Gavi, Zannone & Palmarola), Ponza is a volcanic island, made of beautiful cliffs spaced by tiny beaches and small bays.‑ The main town of Ponza, opens like an amphitheatre above the port onto two levels. The terrace level has walks with shops & restaurants, the lower level bustles with the characteristic life of the port.
