Le Sirenuse

Boutique hotel

Le Sirenuse was for 250 years the beloved summer house of the noble Neapolitan Sersale family. In 1951 they turned it into a small, elegant hotel that today, though slightly larger, is still run by the family with a very personal touch.

The atmosphere is more that of a family home than that of a hotel, and the warmth of the welcome on the part of the staff, and their friendly concern for their guests, is commented upon by everyone who stays there. The pale tones of the interior, its simplicity discreetly highlighted by family antiques, provide a cool retreat from the heat and brightness of the fantastic Positano streets. The views, especially when seen from the very glamorous poolside terrace, or when dining outside, are unforgettable. The restaurant at Le Sirenuse is acknowledged to be one of the best seafood restaurants in the town – and, indeed, Harpers & Queen voted this hotel ‘the best in Italy’.

Destination introduction

Dividing the two Gulfs of Naples and Salerno is the appealing Sorrentine peninsula, home to the characteristic town of Sant’Agata sui due Golfi, the only place on the coast where there are panoramic views of both gulfs, with beautiful views of Vesuvius.  At the tip of the Sorrentine peninsula is the pretty town of Sorrento; the nearest point on the mainland to the island of Capri.

South of Sorrento is the Amalfi coast, one the most stunning coastlines in the whole Mediterranean, where deep mountains simply plunge into the sea. The sensational, windy coast road bypasses picturesque villages which cling to the rocks and slope down to delightful beaches – each more beautiful then the last.  And it is village of Positano where we are lucky enough to have some unique and special rental properties.  Intersected by a network of steep little alleyways, boutiques and restaurants, they hide distinctive houses clinging to the rocks, graced with wide terraces, and cascading flowers, all leading down to the main piazza and beach – with the dome of the church of Santa Maria Assunta always predominant.

Ischia is the largest of the three main islands in the stunning Bay of Naples, connected by short hydrofoil/ferry journeys from Naples and its neighbouring islands of Procida and Capri.  Ischia continues to delight hedonists looking to relax in the spas, swim from its sandy beaches and sample the island’s exceptional local seafood and Epomeo wine.
