Masseria Mimosa Gialla

Sleeps up to: 6

Situated in a magnificent position commanding 360 degree views of the area surrounding the beautiful historic city of Matera, we are very excited to be able to offer this sumptuous Masseria property in the relatively untouched region of Basilicata.

The front door opens into the barrel-vaulted contemporary kitchen. This room is fully fitted and well-equipped with Siemens appliances including a large American style fridge, ice dispenser, cold water dispenser and wine cooler. Expansive granite work surfaces include a centre island for food preparation.

Double doors door lead out to the terracotta terrace for shaded alfresco dining under the magnificent cloisters which overlook the infinity pool with the hill top towns of Pomarico and Miglioncino visible in the distance.

The well-equipped sitting room with 42" TV and Blu-Ray player, plenty of books, games and DVDs and full height stone fireplace opens out to the cloistered terrace where you can enjoy aperitifs and al fresco dining whilst enjoying some spectacular sunsets.

The sitting room leads directly to all three bedrooms. The spacious master double bedroom with its super king-sized bed has its own large walk-in wet room with powerful rain shower and twin basins on a bespoke solid walnut stand. Once more, the glass door/windows offer magnificent views and allow easy access to the pool for an early morning dip in the pool. There are two further double bedrooms, each with a private terrace. One has a shower room en suite with a rainfall shower and the other has a bathroom with a large double ended Philippe Starck bath and a walk-in rainfall shower. All the bathrooms have marble flooring and tiling.

Outside, there is a built-in barbecue and a pizza oven, and sun loungers are positioned around the terraces. To the side of the infinity pool is an outside shower, WC and basin.

Just 9km from atmospheric Matera with a good selection of bars, boutiques and restaurants, this is a luxurious slice of contemporary Italian cool in a jaw-dropping setting in this exciting and relatively undiscovered part of the peninsula.

Destination introduction

Sitting in the instep of Italy, Basilicata is one of Italy’s lesser known regions - meaning miles of white sand beaches, and fishing villages where tourism is still rare.

Vine-covered cliffs and coves with unspoiled beaches reaching out to the seas make the coastline here unforgettable. The mountainous backdrop makes for truly jaw-dropping scenery. Some of the regions highlights include the city of Matera and the famous Sassi, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the setting for the film Passion of Christ, and the coastal resort of Maratea with its crystal clear water and unspoiled beaches.

"Heading home with a heavy heart, it seems amazing that somewhere as stunning as Basilicata could have remained off the tourist radar for so long. As a holiday experience, it is in turn tranquil and thrilling, historical and modern, and never less than truly beautiful. And right now, as people begin to wake up to everything the region has to offer, there couldn’t be a better time to visit."

Paul Harvey, Manchester Evening News 9th Feb 2010

"A region of Italy that is still preserved, that is still authentic, that is still unpolluted...Italy undisturbed, the way it really was."

Francis Ford Coppola, Film Director
