Nefeli

Sleeps up to 7

Under the same ownership as Villa Sophia, and located on the same hillside, Villa Nefeli has magnificent views over the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Messinia and along the indented coastline, with its succession of beautiful beaches. Closest to the villa are the beaches of Stoupa and Kalogria. Greece was not always known for beach or villa holidays and this part of the country attracted travellers lured by the splendour and drama of ancient Greek history. Villa Nefeli, like its neighbour, makes an ideal base for a holiday exploring the awe-inspiring ancient sites as well as enjoying the great beaches. Villa Nefeli is a handsome stone-built villa, comfortably furnished in contemporary style, with a separate guest suite on the lower floor that is very convenient for members of a group requiring a little extra privacy. The private swimming pool is ideally located in front of the villa, with a spacious terrace for relaxing and enjoying the stunning views, especially at sunset, when sea, countryside and mountains alike are bathed in that incredibly luminous Greek light.

Stoupa Introduction

Stoupa was once just a small fishing harbour, but its fine beaches, the best in the region, have made it a popular small holiday resort since the nineteen-eighties. Well-supplied with accommodation, shops, tavernas, bars and other useful facilities, it appeals very much to families, with its not unduly sophisticated and pleasantly informal atmosphere. A family holiday here need never become boring, with all the attractions of the superb beaches including water sports, and an excellent horse-riding centre nearby.

But Stoupa is not only about family holidays – it is the gateway to some wonderful opportunities for exploration of the magnificent scenery, on foot, by bike or car, and the ancient sites of Olympia, Sparta and Mistra are easily reached from here. The Mani is unique in the splendour of its scenery and in its architecture – fortified towers and Byzantine churches and chapels, some no bigger than a large beehive – and Stoupa is the ideal centre for the discovery of the area.
