Liodentra Villas Ena

Sleeps up to 4, and up to 6 with annexe

The village of Kardamyli has everything the Grecophile seeks – a history dating back to Homeric times and a landscape of vibrant colour, where the slopes of the Taygetos Mountains meet the azure sea in a succession of dazzling beaches. This is the setting for a traditional Greek holiday, with a choice of activities as different as mountain walking and climbing or idling over a simple meal of freshly caught fish at a waterfront taverna.

Set in a huge olive grove with direct access to Ritsa Beach, Villas Ena and Thio were inspired by the traditional stone architecture of the Mani and make a wonderful base for a holiday in the ‘real Greece’.  The two stone houses are identical in outward appearance, but each is furnished individually, with a tasteful and elegant blend of natural materials and carefully selected pieces from around the world, such as Persian rugs, Swedish dowry chests, Dutch paintings . There is a high level of service such as might be found in a boutique hotel, with daily maid service and towel changes, bathrooms stocked with natural products and endless supplies of coffee ‘on the house’, while deeply comfortable modern sofas,  beautiful kitchens and  utterly contemporary facilities make Ena and Thio very special properties indeed.

The two houses, which can be booked separately or together, share a 13-metre long swimming pool, and have beautiful covered terraces overlooking the garden with its aromatic plants and huge Greek urns. The pebble beach is 100m away through the garden, and has a handful of local tavernas serving traditional Greek food right by the sea.  An ideal property for a holiday doing very little at all, or for one that includes visits to the awe-inspiring sights, natural and historical, of the Southern Peloponnese.

Kardamyli Introduction

Kardamyli is quite enchanting – a seaside village with a history dating back to Homeric times. Its literary connections include the great Greek writer, Nikos Kazantzakis, whose famous character. Zorba the Greek, was inspired by a local man, and Patrick Leigh Fermor, writer and traveler, who has made his home in Kardamyli. Distinguished by the handsome stone mansions and tall Maniot towers of the old village, and with an attractive little harbour, Kardamyli is set between the calm blue waters of the Messinian Gulf and the grandeur of the Taygetos Mountains. Ideal for walking holidays, with well-marked routes along the ancient kalderimia, or mule paths, the stunning scenery around the village repays exploration on foot, by bike or by car, and includes the breathtaking wildness of the 10-mile long Viros Gorge. With a long pebbly beach and several smaller bays, there is good swimming and Kardamyli is well-provided with pleasant tavernas and cafes and has a useful selection of shops.
