There is more than a hint of Tuscany about this glorious villa with its spectacular garden setting with the views recalling the green hills, cypress trees and valleys of that privileged Italian province, though here the sea is part of the breathtaking view. Perhaps we should not be surprised - the Ionian islands spent so many centuries under Venetian rule and even today that influence is still visible. Glyko Oneiro, moreover is owned by a family who arrived in Kefalonia from Italy in the 15th century. The house has every appearance of being an established country manor house, but is in fact a sympathetic reconstruction of the original villa. Its décor reflects a certain rustic nobility, with some antique pieces but it is very much a holiday retreat that encourages informality and has an intimate atmosphere of its own. The lady cook prepares delicious meals and dining out of doors is a pure pleasure, on a shady stone terrace overlooking the pool and the garden. There is also a terrace with comfortable seating. The pool itself has roman steps flanked by stately urns and framed by beautifully-kept lawns. The surrounding estate offers perfect seclusion, with acres of olive groves and orchards and four of the island's best beaches nearby: the blue flagged beaches of Trapezaki, Kanali, Lithero and Lourdas. One of the most beautiful properties in our Kefalonia portfolio and with an excellent lady cook, most guests will find it hard to stray too far.

Rental Condition: Maid lives on lower ground floor when resident (07 July - 02 September) in an apartment below the villa.

At all other times, the cook is available on request.  Shopping service charge of Euro 150 per week payable locally. Food and drink costs payable locally.

Personal Laundry Service Included: 08 July - 01 September; extra charge of Euro 55 for all other periods. The staff will wash and iron twice weekly.

Rental Conditions: Maximum occupancy 6 adults and 2 children 8 July - 01 September. At all other times, maximum occupancy is 6 people. A nanny may be accommodated on lower ground floor on request.

Flights to Kefalonia

easyJet, has confirmed the addition of a new service from London Gatwick to  Kefalonia.  Flights on this new route will go on sale from 20th October 2011. The new three-times-weekly service will operate from 28th  April to the end of October 2012.

Mousata Introduction

Mousata is one of a cluster of traditional villages situated in the Livathos district - nearby villages include Poriarata, Karouza and Karavados. This is a gently undulating area formed by the lower slopes of Mt Aenos and largely given over to agriculture, in the form of pasture, olive and almond groves and vineyards, from which Kefalonia’s famous ‘Robola’ wine is produced. It is a quiet and peaceful area, perfect for walking. Tavernas and bakeries, mini-markets and churches are a feature of most villages, and interesting sights include St George’s Castle and a number of monasteries which can be visited. The sandy beaches of this region are outstanding, many of them perfect for families with children, others ideal for surfers. These include Trapezaki Beach, Lourdas Beach and Agios Thomas.
