Fiscardo Introduction
Painted in pastels and white, old houses line the narrow alleys leading away from the harbour, their balconies vivid with flowers. Many of these elegant old houses are now chic restaurants, bars and galleries.
A meal at one of Fiskardo’s waterside restaurants has its own entertainment thrown in, in the form of local boat arrivals and departures, fishermen bringing in their catch, not to mention the comings and goings of the glossy yachts favoured by the rich and famous, for Fiskardo is definitely one of the Mediterranean’s ‘in’ places. At night, the lights add a further dimension of magic to the already delightful scene.
The surroundings of the village are conducive to gentle exploration. Tracks wind through olive groves and cypress glades, past deserted hamlets, down to secluded pebble coves with startlingly blue water. The coastline is perfect for exploring by rented boat, with a picnic to be enjoyed wherever you choose. Further afield, by car, the Venetian fortress and village of Assos deserves a visit, with the hauntingly beautiful Myrtos Bay nearby, rated as one of Europe’s finest beaches.
CV’s selected villas are located at Antipata, Evreti and Katsarata as well as Fiskardo. Antipata, in an elevated position with wonderful views, lies midway between Fiskardo and the quiet, sunny beaches that are to be found at and near Chalikeri, while Evreti has a strong natural beauty, with green, wooded hills and a rocky coastline. Nearby is Foki Beach, breeding ground for the now rare Mediterranean Monk seal.
