Destination introduction

Flights to Greece

easyJet, has confirmed the addition of a new service from London Gatwick to  Kefalonia.  Flights on this new route will go on sale from 20th October 2011. The new three-times-weekly service will operate from 28th  April to the end of October 2012.

CV Travel are delighted to continue to offer our charter flights to Corfu (and onwards to Paxos) and Kefalonia from London Gatwick. We can also provide flights to Lefkada and Meganissi (Preveza) and to The Peloponnese (Kalamata or Athens), as well as from regional airports within the UK to all of our destinations. Please ask your consultant for details.

Introduction to the Greek Islands

Take a look at the map of Greece and you will see two quite separate landmasses surrounded by a scattering of islands that reach almost to the shores of Africa, Italy and Turkey. With so many islands, it is no wonder that Greece has always been a nation of sailors, its history defined by whoever ruled those seas at the time.

The unique identity of Greece has survived many invasions and conquests, and exploring the islands, each group with its own landscape and architecture, its own individual stamp, the visitor is struck by the fact that while the Ionian Islands may have a distinctly Italian air and the rocky Cyclades may be swept by winds carrying the scent of Africa with them, they are, above all, Greek.

On every island, you will find the same natural, unforced hospitality, the same friendly curiosity about you. When renting one of our villas in Greece, you may choose to be as languid and laid-back as a lizard on some sun-drenched rock of an Aegean island, or to explore the green hills and valleys, the beautiful beaches of one of the Ionians. You may be drawn to the great ‘island’ of Crete where thousands of years of history have left their mark, or you may head for the tiny but utterly hedonistic island of Mykonos.

In Greece, there is an island for everyone, with unrivalled sailing and water sports of all kinds, culture and festivals, the joy of outdoor meals by the sea, and as much activity or indolence as you wish. All this – and sunshine too, that famous Greek sun that shines all summer long.

Ferry Connections: For those of you travelling via Mainland Greece or Italy, CV Travel can also organise ferry crossings direct to Corfu from Patras, Bari and Venice. Please ask your Sales Consultant for details and prices.

FEWER OF YOU?

Do you enjoy the peace and quiet often associated with travelling outside the peak season? If so, you may wish to take advantage of one of our villas in Greece where you see 'FEWER OF YOU'. It means that smaller parties of for example 4 or 6 people, can stay in a larger villa, offering more space and privacy - perhaps your own bedroom and bathroom, but without having to pay the price for the villa to be fully occupied.‑ See page 9 of the brochure, or page 7 of the Travel Directory for details.

POOL TOWELS

A fresh supply of pool towels will be provided on arrival (one per person) for use during your stay. These will be changed on a weekly basis and are for your use at the poolside and/or beach. Many of our houses now have our smart CV Travel monogrammed pool towels... your essential beach accessory!

LOW WALLS & BALCONIES

Many of our villas in Greece are built on hill sides with descending gardens and spectacular views. In order not to detract from the surrounding scenery, low walls and balconies are often a popular design at some properties. Please ensure that all members of your party are made aware of any low walls at your villa on arrival. Please take extra care of any children in your party.

INFINITY POOLS

Also called Horizon Pools, they are increasingly popular as they offer incredible views from within the pool and its surroundings. Due to their design however, some have significant drops from the far edge. Our safety precautions are particularly relevant with infinity pools and we would like to take this opportunity to emphasise:

• No standing or walking around the edge

• Do not use inflatables (e.g. rings or lilo's) in infinity/horizon pools

• No diving

• No night swimming
