This could be the ideal villa for a group of people with varying ideas on what constitutes the perfect holiday. The country road that winds down the hillside to the rather smart little harbour village of St Stephano is dotted with a growing number of well-designed modern villas, one of which is Villa Nefeli, a handsome house built largely of the local Sinies stone. Approached through a pretty fenced garden with lawns, olive trees and aromatic Mediterranean shrubs, the house opens on one side to an extensive and very well furnished pool terrace. A beautiful outdoor dining area and barbecue is a virtual extension of the open-plan indoor living area. The views are quite delightful, a contrast between green cypress-clad hillsides and the shimmering expanse of sea that divides Corfu from the mainland. Indoors, the accommodation is arranged over two floors, with very pretty bedrooms, all air conditioned, cutting-edge bathrooms, and a modern functional stainless steel kitchen area.
