Omorfi Thea

Sleeps up to 8

The name of this villa, Omorfi Thea – meaning ‘beautiful view’ - says it all, the view is quite simply incomparable, south across the stretch of sea that divides the island of Corfu from the mainland, with every part of this lovely house benefitting from it.

Whether you see it in sunlight or by the light of the full moon, nothing will leave you with a more beautiful holiday memory. The British owners of the villa, long resident in the United States, have also lived in Greece in the past, and their house in Corfu reflects these influences admirably. The interiors are generous in size, furnished with the utmost cool comfort. As long-term residents of the States, the owners have refused to compromise when it comes to comfortable, extra-large beds and luxurious bathrooms. The entire house is air-conditioned and equipped with ceiling fans, and central heating and a lovely fireplace make an early or late season stay here, when the walking and the wild flowers are at their best, very attractive. The large kitchen, with its central island making a very desirable focal point, is beautiful and functional and particularly well-equipped. It opens onto a gorgeous shaded terrace where the view is framed by open stone arches. Each bedroom is virtually a private suite, with en suite shower room, ample closet space and vanity unit, balcony and a thoughtfully provided basket of books. The master bedroom has a gleaming en suite bathroom, his’n’hers facilities and closets, and the luxury of a ‘rain’ shower. The atmosphere of this wonderful house is utterly relaxed, enviably comfortable, and perfectly complemented by its charming private pool. A lot of thought has gone into making it suitable for everyone, with immediate access from cars to front door and a minimum of steps in general.  Indeed, everything about Omorfi Thea has been planned to please the most discerning visitor, and the gardens are now showing the results of the same attention to detail that has been applied to the interior. Situated high on the hillsides of the north-east coast, the villa escapes the bustle and noise of the seaside resorts, but it is not by any means isolated. The small, unspoilt village of Porta is close by, and a good traditional taverna is only a couple of minutes walk away. A well-surfaced, wide road brings you up from the coast, with its shops and amenities, in about ten minutes.

Kokkokilas & Porta Introduction

Kokkokilas is one of the ancient stone hamlets built high on the slopes of Mt Pantocrator, overlooking superb views of the sea and Albania. With long hours of sun, this is a landscape where olive groves give way to almond trees and occasional vineyards, scattered with the beehives from which the wonderful local honey is produced. This is real 'get-away-from-it-all' country, perfect for walking, but not by any means cut off - the amenities of St Stephano and Kassiopi are only a few minutes drive away. Couples and families alike will love the seclusion and space of this highland area, with its abundant wildlife.

Porta is a small mountain village where life remains largely unchanged. High on the uplands overlooking the northeast coast of Corfu, it is easily accessible by car but forms the starting point for some wonderful walks, some of them quite demanding and a test for serious ramblers. From here tracks radiate to connect the village with Rou, Nissaki and Kassiopi, leading to abandoned villages and quarries and revealing a Corfu that is still firmly entrenched in the past.
