Corfu palace

Resort hotel

The Corfu Palace Hotel has long been a synonym for comfort and elegance and has welcomed many very distinguished guests over the past years. It is the kind of hotel, situated overlooking the bay of Garitsa, that calls to mind the South of France in its heyday. Certain visitors still disembark from luxurious yachts anchored just offshore, others still arrive by private jet, and all mingle discreetly in a hotel that has earned an international reputation.

It is not the most modern of Corfu’s luxury hotels, but has a timeless elegance, with rooms and suites that are spacious, fully air-conditioned, equipped with satellite TV and WiFi, and have private balcony or terrace with stunning sea-views.

The handsome hotel is set in an oasis of beautifully-kept gardens, with lawns and sub-tropical trees and plants. An outdoor dining terrace overlooks the glittering seawater swimming pool, and once a week there is an informal barbecue in the garden. A well-appointed saltwater indoor pool and spa offers thalassotherapy treatments.

The many attractions of the town of Corfu – endless shopping opportunities, excellent restaurants, fashionable cafes and bars and the lively pageant that is Corfu’s summer street life, are but a short walk away. The excellent Corfu Golf Club, designed by Robert Trent Jones, is about half an hour away by car or taxi.

At the Corfu Palace, Swiss efficiency and Greek hospitality work smoothly together to provide a memorable holiday.

Corfu Town Intro

A visit to the island of Corfu is not complete without a morning or evening in the evocative atmosphere of the town.‑ A visit to the vibrant and noisy outdoor produce market, could be followed with lunch out of doors overlooking the beautiful square where cricket is still sometimes played.

At night, the town is a glittering sight; monuments artfully lit and shop windows sparkling. Here you may sample excellent Italian cuisine at La Cucina (tel. 26610 45029) or go Greek in Garitsa, a charming suburb of the town, where you enter the spotless kitchen of Yannis and take your pick of a selection of succulent local dishes (tel. 26610 31066).

Elegant, chaotic, endlessly fascinating, the town is intimate and friendly. Smart cafes such as the one on the Cavalieri Hotel (tel. 26610 39336) rooftop, or on the magnificent Liston, make it easy to acquire a taste for the very Corfiot habits of gossip, people-watching and sipping coffee.
