Sustainable Tourism

Beach Farm is an example of sustainable development using locally sourced materials in construction and operation, within easy walking distance of the village shop, pub, medieval church and transport links.

Heat pumps, powered by 100% renewables (www.goodenergy.co.uk) provide all hot water and heating, supplemented by the log burner, just for the warm glow. The heat pumps convert 1kw of electrical power into 4kw of underfloor heating and hot water.

All buildings exceed insulation and heat loss standards, reducing energy demand. All white goods are A rated, all timber F&C, all principle materials used in construction are from sustainable sources and locally sourced if possible.

A land management strategy ensures that Beach Farm is a private nature reserve for the benefit of wildlife and the enjoyment of guests. Traditional low intensity grazing will be maintained on 6 acres. 5 acres will re-naturalise to increase biodiversity with manicured pathways, picnic and camping areas.

Guest Book

"Superbly comfortable beds, wonderful bathrooms and very warm even on a very wet evening. The next day, the sun came out and we loved walking along the beach early the next morning. One of our favourite properties - a great venue for a group of people travelling together, even in winter!"

Beach Farm has been featured in July 2010 UK edition of Conde Nast Traveller: -

"Beach Farm stands in five acres of glorious meadowland next to a private sand-and-pebble beach....the small holding's red-brick barn and two stone cottages are all carbon neutral and furnished with Ercol chairs, contemporary kitchens.. and wallpapers based on drawings by 19th century naturalist Ernest Haeckel. The barn is also beautifully set up for celebrations, with a table seating 20 and west-facing doors for sunset views. Shop for supplies in Pwllheli or book the recommended caterer, then sit around the campfire and watch night fall or meander along the beach to the pub."

"All very good. Lovely venue. Very enjoyable holiday. Thank you."

"May I just thank you  all for organising such a great week for us in Beach Farm Cottages  Lleyn Peninsula? We were blessed with fantastic  weather and were able to swim in the sea regularly. The lay-out of the cottages  was perfect for our needs; with 3 families all in separate accommodation and yet  all meeting in the Dairy for mealtimes. We were so pleased to have Paula from  Stafford House to help with the catering; it really made all the difference to  us having a delicious meal every evening which I didn’t have to cook! She  arrived with ready-prepared meals every few days and was extremely flexible and  helpful. The kids all loved the lasagne especially!  It was extremely good value  for money. All in all, our trip  was a great success and the cottages, gardens and beach were fabulous. We loved  having sheep wandering around in the garden and the BBQ/bonfire area was  beautiful. I would definitely recommend the whole experience; the owners have really created a magical place."

Destination introduction

The Lleyn Peninsula extends from Snowdonia National Park and stretches 30 miles into the Irish Sea from North Wales. Its landscape is very different from the rest of North Wales ; the mountains drop sheer to the sea but are interspersed by wide bays, rocky coves and great expanses of sandy beach. There are enchanting fishing villages and, inland, white-washed farms and small fields. Populated since the earliest times, Lleyn still bears traces of ancient Man, with Iron Age hill-forts and Neolithic tombs, standing stones and tracks whose origins are lost in Time.
