History

England boasts a rich history dating back over 5000 years, when the first farming people arrived from Europe, and the first stone circles such as Stonehenge were built. The country has seen a multitude of eras from the Romans, the Saxons, the Vikings, the Normans, the Tudors, the Victorians and two World Wars in the 20th Century. The islands that we know today were formed 8000 years ago when the ice melted and sea levels rose, cutting off Britain from mainland Europe.
