Stables House

Sleeps 16 to 22

This large, stunning property, set in the seclusion of the beautiful Herefordshire countryside, including an outdoor heated pool, the garden housing the pool itself, complemented by a sauna and hot tub in the old potting shed, with a squash court in the former stables.

Stables House combines Victorian grandeur with 21st century facilities. Stables House represents the ultimate in spacious and stylish country living. The house is quite fascinating, its appearance punctuated by interesting entrances, courtyards, gardens and terraces.

The origins of Stables House, as the Victorian stable block and carriage house, are clearly visible in the porcelain-tiled corridors, the brick and cobblestone floors, and the gently sloping entrances.

Should guests wish to venture further afield, among the many outdoor pursuits are golf, mountain biking, riding, canoeing, shooting and go-karting.

Room Description

Ground Floor: The main entrance leads into the marble hall way, with doors onto a family suite on either side. Each family suite has a double bedroom, annexe with two single beds, and a bathroom.

There are 3 large living areas: The Parley (with media centre with OHP, and round dining table seating 18), the Clock View room (with hole-in-the-wall fire and some sink-into sofas with TV and X-box), and the Club Room (with wood panelling, open fire and Sky Plus TV).

The kitchen is down some steps from The Parley dining room and is also accessible from the front courtyard.

First Floor: There are two further family suites on the first floor.

Destination introduction

CV Travel specialises in the wow factor, which is why it is one of the preferred tour operators of Britain’s middle classes – an eminently droppable name in a crowd that expects matching cutlery as an absolute minimum” - Independent on Sunday, May 2009.

Richly agricultural and one of the least densely-populated counties in Britain, Herefordshire is ideal for a country holiday that lacks for nothing in the way of possibilities. East of the beautiful River Wye valley, the county borders Wales and its rolling hills begin to sharpen into something rather more rugged. Its turbulent history of border wars between the Welsh and the English has left the countryside dotted with ruined castles and grand manor houses to be visited.

Characterised by the dramatic black-and-white timbering of the ancient houses in the market towns and in the countryside, Herefordshire is also a county rich in activities to please everyone, including canoeing, fishing, playing golf, antique-hunting and cycling.

Our properties in Herefordshire are clustered around some beautiful parkland, with sweeping views to the Welsh border, and it may well be that the only activity you feel a need to indulge in is that of breathing the fresh air and listening to the birdsong while sitting out on the porch in the evening.
