Barn House

Sleeps up to: 4

Barn House is idyllically located in the heart of rural Herefordshire, close to the Welsh mountains.

The interior is unexpectedly stunning, with a large open-plan living/dining/kitchen area set beneath a vaulted ceiling. A spiral staircase leads to a ‘folly’ mezzanine floor equipped with a futon for an additional guest or child. A wetroom with shower and wc below this mezzanine provides an independent washing area.

The main bedroom is quite spectacular, accessed by a second spiral staircase, with a super-king-size bed with pocket sprung mattress, Egyptian linen sheets and large cotton towels. A rolltop bath stands in the bedroom, with a separate wc and stylish porcelain double sinks set on a black granite top for yet another touch of luxury.

French doors open on to a garden terrace and the lovely garden itself, designed by award-winning Lance Hattat and planted with lavender, lawns and beech hedges, makes this a truly special place to stay.

Room Description

Ground Floor: French doors open onto an open plan kitchen, dining and living area, with vaulted ceiling and exposed beams. There is a downstairs WC and shower room at the kitchen end of the house. At the living room end of the house a door leads onto the double bedroom, with en suite bathroom.

First Floor: Over the kitchen is a mezzanine gallery containing a double bed, reached via a spiral staircase. From the downstairs double bedroom there is a spiral staircase leading to a folly balcony with a single futon bed.

Grounds: Barn House has its own private garden and terrace with barbecue.

Guest Book

"Set in a courtyard with use of a shared outdoor heated swimming pool in the adjacent walled garden, the real wow factor for Barn House is the interior.

The large open plan kitchen, dining and living room sits under a beamed vaulted ceiling, with a spiral staircase leading to the mezzanine gallery with sleeping space for a couple or for children.

This is a really fun place to rent with friends or to luxuriate in as a couple"

Destination introduction

CV Travel specialises in the wow factor, which is why it is one of the preferred tour operators of Britain’s middle classes – an eminently droppable name in a crowd that expects matching cutlery as an absolute minimum” - Independent on Sunday, May 2009.

Richly agricultural and one of the least densely-populated counties in Britain, Herefordshire is ideal for a country holiday that lacks for nothing in the way of possibilities. East of the beautiful River Wye valley, the county borders Wales and its rolling hills begin to sharpen into something rather more rugged. Its turbulent history of border wars between the Welsh and the English has left the countryside dotted with ruined castles and grand manor houses to be visited.

Characterised by the dramatic black-and-white timbering of the ancient houses in the market towns and in the countryside, Herefordshire is also a county rich in activities to please everyone, including canoeing, fishing, playing golf, antique-hunting and cycling.

Our properties in Herefordshire are clustered around some beautiful parkland, with sweeping views to the Welsh border, and it may well be that the only activity you feel a need to indulge in is that of breathing the fresh air and listening to the birdsong while sitting out on the porch in the evening.
