Howards End

Sleeps up to 6

Howards End is set in the grounds of Wiltshire's oldest inhabited manor house, with a 13th century porch and a 15th century chapel.

The extensive grounds include a flamboyant outdoor swimming pool, terraced lawns, a chapel, an orchard and a love folly. The polished wooden floors, stained glass windows, antique furniture and pitched beamed ceilings offer a very romantic and unforgettable stay.

The lovely gardens reflect the age of the property, with ancient yews, an old mulberry tree and a profusion of old fashioned roses blooming in May and June. Guests are welcome to dig for their own garden produce when available, or buy it from the farm shop down the lane.

Destination introduction

New for 2009, CV Travel introduces a hand-picked collection of British houses from romantic cottages & converted stables to elegant manor houses in the West Country, The Cotswolds and Norfolk, accommodating 2-22 guests and carefully chosen for their character, quality and facilities” – Good Housekeeping, March 2009.

The Cotswolds is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, often referred to as the ‘Heart of England’. Stretching from South Warwickshire and Worcestershire, through West Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, it also takes in parts of West Wiltshire and Bath and part of Somerset in the south. It covers 787 square miles of exceptionally beautiful countryside characterised by rolling hills and river valleys. Since the Middle Ages it has been sheep country, and in those times it was the centre of England’s wool trade. The great ‘wool’ churches of the region and the many handsome manor houses were built by the wealthy wool merchants.
