The birthplace of Nostradamus and where Van Gogh painted ‘Starry Night’, Saint-Remy-de-Provence has a wonderful history and heritage and today is an active village, with a collection of restaurants and shops. Market day is Wedneday and enjoys a vibrant atmosphere with the Fête du Vin et de l'artisanat and the Feria Provençale real highlights through the summer. Other pretty villages punctuate the region including L’Isle sur la Sorgue, based on the islands around five branches of the Sorgues riverwell known for its antique shops and the pretty water wheels that used to power the mills in the town.
