Le Chateau Aubenas

Sleeps up to: 8 or 12 guests (8 Adults + 4 Children)

Le Château d’Aubenas, once the summer retreat of French royalty, is an authentic 16th century château where ancient and modern meet with stunning effect, the exterior giving no hint of the transformation of the interior. The enormous rooms, high ceilings and long hallways remain, but the addition of interconnecting doors makes an interesting and practical use of space.

Rooms are furnished in minimalist chic, with special emphasis on elegant but functional bathrooms and cool, uncluttered bedrooms; children and teenagers will love the tower suite. The private, gated grounds are classically beautiful, with large sheltering trees, gravel paths and lawns, an olive grove, a swimming pool and a large sun terrace. There are many quiet spots for relaxation, breathing in the scent of lavender that grows in the surrounding fields. The tiny village of Aubenas-des-Alpes, with just one street, set amidst the forests and rivers of the Luberon is heavenly, and the pretty town of Forcalquier is barely fifteen minutes away. The château has been transformed into a delightfully comfortable home, ideal for an extended family or group holiday.
