Notre Dame du Val

Sleeps up to: 14

This majestic house is set in some 25 acres of lavender, olive groves and fruit orchards, interspersed with cypress and oak trees. The lovely large swimming pool is in a wonderful spot within these extensive grounds, and there is a tennis court and a gym in the orangery.

During November, clients staying at Notre Dame du Val, will have the opportunity to join in the harvest at their leisure, rake olives from the trees into the nets around the base, join harvesters for soup and sandwiches and learn about how the olive oil is processed. Closer to the house an ornate fountain adorns the frontage of the property, with mature trees providing welcome shaded areas from which to enjoy the view of the Massif de l’Étoile. Inside grand furniture adorns the large rooms that reflect the grandeur of this beautiful building. The house manager lives unobtrusively in an apartment with its own private entrance, and is a font of local knowledge if required.

There is an 18-hole golf course virtually next door to the house, and charming Aix-en-Provence, often referred to as the ‘town of a thousand fountains’ is close by, with its picturesque streets home to restaurants, cafés and boutique shops. Notre Dame du Val is a splendid house, enjoying wonderful views over the Provencal countryside.

Destination introduction

Protected by the Montagne Sainte-Victoire which rises to 1,011m Aix-en-Provence is surrounded by a countryside full of authentic Provençal houses. Aix-en-Provence was the capital of Provence in the 15th century and wealthy merchants along with local dignitaries helped turn this city into the Florence of Provence as we know it today. The beauty of noble 17th and 18th century Provence still exists in the private mansions, city squares bursting with flowers, ancient fountains and shaded narrow streets.
