Le Bouffadou

Sleeps up to: 6

Originally a working farm, this lovely and comfortable restored farmhouse, set in three hectares of land in rural countryside near the small hamlet of Tage, is only a short drive to Monpazier, one of the Dordogne’s most historic and beautiful towns.

In unspoiled country side, yet near to pretty market towns and restaurants, Le Bouffadou is a delightful rustic home for guests, keeping the character and rustic element of the open-beamed farmhouse, whilst incorporating modern comfort. The open fireplaces ensure a warm welcome in early and late summer, whilst the thick stone walls keep the house cool, even on the hottest day. Clever use has been made of the original out-buildings to create a charming guest annexe with two excellent bedroom suites, ideal for grandparents or older children. The pretty gardens, with lawns, fruit trees, shrubs and flowers, provide a haven for wild flowers, birds and butterflies in the summer, all well maintained by a gardener.

Destination introduction

Flowing rivers, fairy-tale castles & wine…

Traditionally beloved of the British, the Dordogne region enjoys rich, green countryside, castles perched precariously on the top of cliffs looking down to flowing, cool rivers below, ancient monuments, and stunning, medieval towns including Perigueux, Sarlat and Bergerac. The Dordogne is the home of truffles, foie gras and walnuts, with the great vineyards of Bordeaux to the West. There are some fabulous local markets to explore, and sporting activities include riding, golf, canoeing and tennis. Bergerac is an attractive market town, and an important wine growing area, whilst Bordeaux is an 18th century architectural gem, now a vibrant city. The pretty Bastide town of Monségur is set around a market square, Monpazier is listed as one of ‘the most beautiful villages in France’, and Sarlat-la-Caneda with its boutiques, restaurants, and market is well worth a visit.
