Bormes Les Mimosas: The medieval village and a sea-facing harbour and beaches. The popular Route-du-Mimosa, starts from Bormes-les-Mimosas and follows a picturesque driving route north-east along the coast via Le-Rayol-Canadel, Sainte-Maxime, Saint-Raphael, and on to Tanneron, Pegomas and ends in Grasse.
Callas: A laid back perched village, where you can visit the ruins of the old 13th-century chateau and plenty of colorful buildings, some ancient stone walls and narrow streets.
Collobrières: A lovely village in the forests of the Maures, with long streets, it’s ancient bridge and old buildings, painted in a variety of pastels.
Draguignan: A large town, where visitors can do some retail therapy in the city centre or to explore the local markets by the old part of the town. Tour de l'Horloge, the open-air Théatre de Verdure and the Olive Mills are just some interesting features
La Garde-Freinet: A medieval-style town, with narrow streets and surrounded by high rocky peaks with the ruins of the ancient fort and stunning views over the Maures. A picturesque town, with a wide variety of local shops and restaurants for visitors and even a local tourist office.
Port Grimaud: A town with a similar look to Venice, with exclusive shops, bars and restaurants and where you can take relaxing boat trips.
Sainte Maxime: Just a short drive away from Saint Tropez, this Mediterranean coastal town retains its Medieval flavour, whilst offering to visitors white sandy beaches and shopping alternatives from small Provençal markets to modern shopping centers.
Saint-Tropez: Set on the lovely blue water of the Bay of Saint-Tropez, this modern version of a medieval town is most popular for the line of yachts along the quai, and the facing line of terrace cafés. Saint-Tropez became "St-Trop" when the show business people, artists and writers all fell under the spell of this charming little port in the 1950's. Since then it has become the 'in' vacation spot for chic Parisians and 'La Jet Set'. There is however another side to Saint-Tropez. Early in the morning at the Place aux Herbes one can find fruit vegetables and flowers and watch the local fishermen selling their new catch. The beaches too are wonderful, and there are at least forty on the peninsula.
The islands are Porquerolles, Le Levant and Port-Cros: These three islands together form a unique environment, with sandy beaches and sites of natural beauty such as Domaine du Rayol.
Toulon: The fountains and squares at the old town of Toulon have been recently restored beautifully. Other places worth a visit, are Boulevard de Strasbourg and the Cours Lafayette.
