Villa Les Tilleuls

Sleeps up to: 8 or 10

Villa Les Tilleuls sits upon a hillside terrace, where two magnificent lime trees frame agloriously bucolic view across the undulating countryside. There is always a hint of natural perfumes in the air, of jasmine and grass and flowering trees, utterly appropriate to the villa's location just 2 kilometres from Grasse, the perfume capital of France.

The beautiful house, its pastel-coloured walls offset by typical French blue shutters and fronted by a long vine-shaded terrace, dates back to the 18th century, and has been the home of a family of perfumiers. It can be no surprise to find that plants and flowers play a large part in the two hectares of gardens that surround the villa – the lawns, gardens, olive and fruit trees are interspersed with sentinel cypresses.

These garden terraces are so inviting and conceal numerous places for quiet relaxation, including the large swimming pool. The owner recently renovated the kitchen and added broadband Internet access and iPod docking station. A beautiful vaulted ceiling distinguishes the ground floor living area, which has a certain nostalgic and very restful charm; light floods through huge windows all around the room, reflecting off the original tiled floor. Upstairs, the pretty bedrooms contrast beamed ceilings and traditionally tiled floors with softly-coloured walls and white bed linen.

A lovely romantic property, Villa les Tilleuls is within easy reach of Grasse; its fascinating old Town is bound to draw you back more than once. The surrounding area is full of interest, with forests and rivers, canyons and caves owing their origins to the local limestone terrain.

Guest Book

“The large gardens offer plenty of different areas to sit, including a herb garden, orange and lemon trees and terrace. The games area with ping pong at the back of the house, together with the bedrooms arranged in self contained family units, make this a good family house. The CV Travel France team particularly liked the top annexe bedroom under the eaves, with good views across the gardens”

Destination introduction

Ever since the Romans colonised the South of France and spent days lounging around their pools, the province has conjured up an image of glamour and elegance. It is a paradise that has a very individual appeal. Fine wines, fragrant olive oils, stunning Riviera towns - the list is endless and the variety unmatched.

Some of our finest villas in France can be found along the Cote D'Azur. The rich unspoilt coastline around Saint-Raphaël and Fréjus with its dramatic cliffs and stunning coves. 150 years ago Cannes was nothing more than a fishing village. Since then it has become an elegant city and attracts an international clientele. Cannes is simply wonderful, with many facets and much variety. The Haute Ville offers a breathtaking view of the whole city surrounded by the blue sea and the Lérins Islands. Whilst below in the Vieux Port along the Quai Saint-Pierre, fishing boats and pleasure boats sit side by side, and Cannes would not be complete without a walk along 'La Croisette', one of the most famous promenades in the world.

Antibes Juan-les-Pins is one of the best-known resorts on the Côte d'Azur, located between Nice (20km) and Cannes (12km). The town of Antibes is chic and laid back with a variety of restaurants, cafés, theatres and chic hotels, whilst Juan-les-Pins is for night owls with fashionable night clubs, a casino and even night shopping. For a long time Antibes was the only large town between Marseille and Italy and has managed to conserve historic monuments from each period in its heritage.

Only 15 minutes from Cannes, the superb medieval village of Mougins is set amongst pine, olive and cyprus trees. Surrounded by forests (the Valmasque forest covers 427 hectares) Mougins has maintained its beauty, and offers visitors a panoramic view of the Baie de Cannes, the Lérins Islands, Grasse and the “Préalpes”. On the village outskirts, some of our most luxurious villas in France are hidden behind magnificent Mediterranean parks and gardens.
