Southern Corsica Villas

Destination Information

On the south eastern coast of Corsica you will find the charming, relatively unknown seaside hamlets of Pinarello and Fautea, both home to lovely beaches and a choice of classy restaurants and bars on the water's edge.

Perfectly located for exploring this part of the island, the ever-popular town of Porto Vecchio is just a short way south. Porto Vecchio is a bustling harbour town home to marina-side restaurants, and the old town next to the Place de la République, has narrow streets which come alive on a summer evening with music and entertainment.

The mountainous landscape inland encapsulates beatiful scenery, craggy mountain tops and pine forests, with hidden mountain lakes. This region of Corsica can lay claim to having some of the loveliest of the hundred plus beaches on the island. Pinarellu and Fautea are beautiful stretches of soft sands caressed by calm azur blue waters, covering a couple of kilometres. More famous is Palombaggia beach, just to the south of Porto Vecchio, a perfect white sandy bay giving way to deep blue sea, backed by sand dunes and pine trees. The beach is internationally renowned and perfect for families, and subsequently very popular. A further option is Santa Giulia beach, well liked by water sport enthusiasts.

Also in the south of Corsica you will find its oldest town, Bonifacio, dating back to medieval times. Its 9th century citadel presiding proudly over the natural harbour below, the sophisticated quay side is home to a selection of trendy restaurants and cosmopolitan bars. You can also catch the ferry from here to the marine reserve Les Iles Lavezzi and cross the twelve miles of sea separating Corsica from sardinia and visit Italy for the day.
