Corsica

Destination Information

L’île de beauté…

Located in the western Mediterranean, north of Sardinia and south east of Nice, Corsica is not only exceptionally beautiful but also remains relatively unspoilt and quite intriguing. Its spectacular mountains rise steeply out of an azure sea, the refuge of medieval towns and villages, its shores are girdled by white sand beaches, and cool sea breezes blow, laden with the heady scent of the ‘maquis’ that cloaks the island, fragrances of myrtle, rosemary and juniper. The proud Corsican people, once protective of their homeland, these days welcome visitors to enjoy the beauty of its landscape, the stunning beaches, the local food and wines, and the island’s history, traditional music and folklore. CV Travel’s villas are located in the sumptuous south, home to the charming seaside hamlets of Pinarellu and Fautea, the bustling town of Porto-Vecchio, and beautiful Bonifacio, with its ancient citadel presiding over its natural harbour. More villas are to be found in the visually dramatic north near Calvi with its glamorous marina, cosmopolitan restaurants, and picturesque mountain backdrop, and in the Balagne region with its quaint hillside villages including Lumio and Sant’Antonino.

Our Recommendations:

• Great walks in the Parc Naturel Regional de la Corse and the Restonica valley

• Enjoy the most unspoilt and prisitine beaches in Europe, reminiscent of the Caribbean

• Treat yourself with fantastic local food: Charcuterie (Wild boar sausage, Lonzu, Copa), local cheeses, stews and seafood, fresh from the morning catch

• Take a boat trip to Plage du Lodo from Saint-Florent, or to Les Iles Lavezzi from Bonifacio for the best view of the Citadel, alternatively catch the ferry across to Sardinia
