La Belle Helene

Sleeps 6-22

La Belle Helene occupies a setting of the utmost beauty – beauty on a quite voluptuous scale. The house is, in one word, palatial. Its size, its setting, its sumptuous furnishings make it worthy of such an epithet. The classic proportions and formal architectural details are quite European, but the polished mahogany floors and green shuttered windows, the coral stone walls and vast terraces could only be Caribbean. The gardens run right down to the shore where there is a rocky pebble beach. A white sand beach is just a short walk away. The private swimming pool, however, is incomparable - 40 metres long, surrounded by a broad pool deck and enhanced by its own waterfall. Grand, palatial, even regal, are words that come to mind when describing La Belle Helene, but above all this is a home, decorated with real affection for the island life-style. The views are almost beyond description – the perfect symmetry of Les Pitons, the ever-changing colours of that glorious sea and the perfection of the sunset.

The detail and thought put into the design includes strategic locations of windows allowing the breeze to pass through the house and reducing the need for the air conditioning making the villa more environmentally friendly. The eco thinking has extended to capturing rain water in a separate tank and installation of solar panels for hot water.

In the Kitchen you will find an Italian – Scavolini kitchen equipped with two ovens, microwave, fridge and freezer, dishwasher. In the island unit there is an ice maker, wine cooler, an additional sink and seating for six. The best in sound quality is created using a mix of Meridian and Linn speakers controlled by Crestron. The room was constructed using ‘floating’ room techniques found in world famous concert halls.

The games room offers the opportunity to play some pool, poker or table tennis or if you wish just watch the ‘game’ on cable.

Take the elevator upstairs and entertain guests in the main bar area and play the 1976 Yamaha Grand Piano.

The elevator travels up further to the master floor level. The master bedroom boasts a Super King size bed with views over Pigeon island and a private balcony. Again you can listen to surround sound and watch the boats sailing down to Rodney bay or Marigot bay. The bathroom boasts a double hot tub which has:

While you lie in the tub or take a shower, you can watch the tv or listen to your favourite music all at the touch of a switch. The Master level also has an extra room which could be used as a Study or bedroom for a younger member of the family.

The top level has a Look-out for watching the world go by or star gazing at night – not forgetting that should you wish, you can listen to some of your favourite music along with a glass of wine from the fridge located close by. Here you can see the Pitons, Mount Gimme and both the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean – truly remarkable.

Destination introduction

The south of St Lucia is where the attractions are more natural, and nowhere more so than the dramatic twin peaks of The Pitons that dominate the skyline in the south west. There is also a spectacular rainforest with its diverse flora and fauna, and even a drive-in volcano, which are both very popular. Here the pace of life is unhurried and this is what some would say is the real St Lucia that is still virtually untouched by commercialism. This can mean that local restaurants and shops are not as sophisticated in the north but does mean that you will get a real flavour of Island life. The best beaches are at Anse Cochon, Anse Chastanet and Jalousie Bay – directly between the Pitons.
