Accommodation directly on the beach is hard to come by in St Lucia but not here. This small, intimate and picturesque villa resort has 20 villa suites nestled among the coconut trees on Choc Bay, just a few yards from the water’s edge. Of course they command panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea, but the lush green mountains of the northern coastline and an offshore island are also in the line of sight. Each suite is well turned out and the emphasis on the rich St. Lucian architectural heritage is reflected in their intricate gingerbread fretwork, jalousie shutters and original handcrafted wooden furniture – each has a four-poster bed. The quiet sandy beach in front of the resort has excellent swimming and hammocks are scattered between the palms, ideal for watching perfect sunsets and local fishermen pulling in their catch. Villa Beach Cottages are also conveniently located a short drive from the waterfront restaurants at Vigie Cove, which provide good dining opportunities along with the restaurant next door to Villa Beach. Vigie Cove is also home to one of the best dive operators on St Lucia, if you are interested in scuba diving and a raft of other water-based sports or adventures, such as kayaking.
