Originally a simple beach house, Crystal Springs was transformed by Oliver Messel during the 1960s into an outstanding estate. This elegant villa is much sought after by families and friends seeking a spectacular setting for a memorable holiday.

Set in over two acres of grounds resembling a botanical garden, Crystal Springs is one of the largest villas for rental in Barbados and has an enviable setting just above a secluded and very private sandy cove. The accommodation is extensive and classically exhibits Messel’s trademark of bringing together house and garden in harmony. This is perfectly demonstrated in the formal dining terrace which has pillars and arches that open onto the garden and a Roman fountain. A glorious 14 m swimming pool, set within a grass terrace, is located near a romantic dining terrace on the cliff ’s edge. Steps lead to a secluded beach cove below, where a Sunfish sail boat is for guests’ use.

Extra Services

Relax and let the villa's extensive staff - led by an excellent butler and cook - look after you and all of your guests. This wonderful service is included in the villa rate.

(Staff usually have one day off a week and are happy to do grocery shopping for a small charge).

A sunfish sailboat, plus use of a 22 ft. Sea Ray Bow Rider speed boat (one pair of water-skis and one slalom ski ) and driver are available for an additional weekly fee. The boat is included for full rate bookings only; the cost of oil and petrol for the boat is not included in rental fee and guests are responsible for this.

With an almost uninterrupted, six mile stretch of white sand beach, St James truly is Barbados’s ‘Platinum Coast’. Famous for its beachfront mansions, pristine beaches and luxury hotels, St James incorporates the majority of the island’s west coast and is home to three of Barbados’s world famous private estates – Sandy Lane, Royal Westmoreland and Sugar Hill – with their championship golf courses and facilities. The area’s commercial centre is Holetown, a charming area with fine restaurants and shopping. Directly to the south of Holetown are Sandy Lane Beach and the Paynes Bay area extending down to Fitts Village, Derricks and Prospect. ‘The Garden’ is an exclusive enclave to the north of Holetown, by Lower Carlton and Weston.
